Join us for the Brass Congress at the Nelson Mandela University Music Department from April 25th to 28th, 2024, presented in collaboration with the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra. Featuring international tuba artist and Associate Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at the University of Missouri - Kansas City, Jarret McCourt, this event is open to brass players, teachers, enthusiasts, community musicians, amateur and professional musicians of all ages and levels.

Immerse yourself in a series of engaging sessions from April 25th 15:00-18:00, April 26th 14h00-18h00, and April 27th, 09:00-17:00, covering topics such as ensemble playing, instrument maintenance, breathing for brass playing, warmups, routines, as well as master classes and workshops. The congress culminates in a captivating concert on April 28th at 18h00 at the South Campus Auditorium (Nelson Mandela University), featuring Jarret McCourt, the Virtual-So Tuba/Euph Quartet, and congress participants.

 

As a bonus, participants will receive a complimentary ticket to the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra's 'Friends in Low Places' concert on April 28th at the Feather Market Centre, where Jarret will perform the rarely performed Ralph Vaughan Williams Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra in F Minor.
